Who is the qualification aimed at?
This Level 3 qualification is designed principally for those who are, or intend to be, supervisors of food handlers within the catering and hospitality industry. The qualification is firmly based on the Level Three National Occupational Standards developed by People 1st, the Sector Skills Council for the hospitality industry, and conforms to the qualification template developed by RSPH and other awarding bodies under the guidance of People 1st.

- Understand the concept of food hazards and the risks associated with them
- Appreciate the importance of supervising high standards of cleanliness in food premises
- Understand the terminology with respect to supervising food safety
- Understand the techniques involved in controlling and monitoring food safety
- Understand the role temperature plays in the control of food safety
How is it assessed?
The award is a 20-hour course delivered over four days. Assessment is by a one and a half hour examination of 45 multiple-choice questions.
Food Safety Level 3 and HACCP Trainer
For the last 25 years Paula has worked in the hospitality, sports health, nutritional and educational industries, where she has gained a wealth of knowledge and extensive hands-on experience.
She holds a HND in Hotel, Catering and Institutional Management, a Post Graduate Certificate in HACCP, Advanced Food Hygiene Level 4 and the Trainers Certificate, which enables her to deliver training to the highest of standards.
Paula is a qualified tutor and catering assessor, who enjoys teaching all aspects of food safety. She always supports learners; helping them to identify what role they can play in improving food safety standards in their workplace.
Paula has delivered training on site for a vast range of businesses, focussing on the requirements of each individual business to reinforce their particular policies and procedures. She designed and delivered a range of courses for McCain Foods in Scarborough, and regularly provides advice and guidance to businesses, assisting them to create and implement food safety management systems to meet current legislation.
